Measuring Beauty
The ancient mystery surrounding the beauty of diamonds is particularly troublesome to those of us in search of that beauty but who are only vaguely familiar with how it is measured. Amazingly, that mystery continues to generate a question haunting the majority of diamond buyers today. That is; will the diamond we buy have all the beauty and therefore all the value we pay for?
Holland Jewelers’ Certified Gemologist, Laurence “Larry” A. Holland, grandson of the store’s founder had the same question. So over the past several years, working and studying under rigid guidelines monitored by recognized professionals he learned exactly how diamonds and other gems are valued. For his work and for the knowledge he acquired, Mr. Holland achieved major recognition. The American Gem Society (AGS), a respected association of professional jewelers in the United States and Canada, honored Mr. Holland with the title, Certified Gemologist Appraiser (CGA). Only approximately 400 AGS jewelers in North America have earned this prestigious professional title.

What this means to you is; Mr. Holland can show and demonstrate precisely how any diamond or gem
stone matches up with its cost. He can do so with a diamond or gemstone you already own or with one you are considering purchasing. He can also appraise the true value of a so-called, “discounted diamond”, which answers another question. Is a “discount
ed” diamond actually discounted? That knowledge is often critical.
Since its founding in 1933 Holland Jewelers goal has been to provide great service to customers. Laurence Holland’s achievement continues that tradition and demonstrates its premise.
